Geauga Engineering and Robotics (GEAR)

Geauga Engineering And Robotics is a 4-H club pursuing projects in engineering, computer programming, electricity, and robotics. Our members begin by learning the fundamentals of electricity, then the physics behind modern technology, and eventually enter the realm of programming, the Internet of Things, and engineering. In the past, we have had NASA engineers speak to the club, have gone to the observatory to view astronomical phenomena, and have visited various museums to learn from humanity’s great engineers. GEAR participates in the National Robotics Challenge, local and state science fairs, and has sent many members to the Ohio State Fair to represent Geauga County. We foster a lifetime love of learning, and our members have gone on to study STEM subjects at the university level. Funds from this race would help support buying updated equipment so our members can learn state-of-the-art techniques.

Breeders & Feeders

Since its inception in 1971, Breeders and Feeders 4-H Club members have worked to make the "Best Better" in Geauga County. Breeders and Feeders 4-H Club has its roots in breeding commercial beef cattle for market. Today, our club truly has something for everyone. Members have the opportunity to take such projects as Beef, Pigs, Poultry, and Rabbits to the Fair. In addition, our members have taken sheep, goats and miscellaneous projects such as photography and veterinary science to the Fair. During our meetings, members learn about raising quality market projects aimed at providing a good product to their buyers. Members are also involved in many community service projects such as making blankets for veterans, Geauga County Hunger Task Force, decorating placemats for Geauga County Department on Aging and collecting donations for Rescue Village. Come see us at the 2023 Great Geauga County Fair!

Plantmasters

Plantmasters has been in existence for over 20 years. We study agriculture, botany, horticulture, environmental science and gardening. Each year we focus on special subjects. This year we are studying corn and prairies and continuing our work on phenology. Our meetings always include an educational component and laboratory. Almost every month members have the opportunity to grow new plants using propagules given to members by the advisers. About half the members chose to also take on extra 4-H projects including Ohio Birds, Investigating Insects, Exploring Outdoors, Exploring Ponds, Why Trees Matter, Cake Decorating and others. In the past Plantmasters took trips. Our outings include a mushroom farm, bog, Stan Hywet Hall, the Cleveland Art Museum. and the Natural History Museum. The money we earn from the 5K would be used to fund future trips and purchase new plants for members. Thank you for this opportunity.

Geauga Caprine Kids

Geauga Caprine Kids is a 4-H club with members that participate in a variety of different animal projects. Our members vary in age between 5-18, allowing the older members to work with the younger generation to help them learn important life skills. Through fun activities and educational opportunities, kids are excited to learn about animal husbandry in addition to crucial life skills. Most of the club members show animals at the fair including poultry, hogs, goats, sheep, rabbits, to name a few. All the members participate in the fair and enjoy showing the projects that they have worked hard on all year and the experiences that come along with it. We also enjoy volunteering within a diverse group of people within the community. We participate in various community service activities including
helping make Easter eggs for daycares, food drives, and making blankets for the cancer patients at Geauga Hospital, and many more.
